Description
Suitable for age 7 years and up.
A bowed string instrument of the violin family, it's name is a shortened form of the Italian word violoncello, which means "small large violin". Of all the instruments in the orchestra, the cello is said to be the most like the human voice and has a beautiful expressive sound with a very large note range.
Prior experience of Listen and Learn violin or Let's Make Music is helpful for beginner cellists, but not essential. Other music playing or reading experience would be helpful for older students wishing to take up the cello.
