Description
The French horn is a brass instrument made of tubing wrapped into a coil, and is most commonly played in classical music, but is very versatile. It has a rich, soft sound which gives it a quality somewhere between brass and woodwinds, enabling it to blend well with the sound of many other instruments.
We recommend students are at least 9 years old to learn the french horn, but due to the size and weight of the instrument it may not be suitable if the child is on the smaller side.
Being able to read music and prior experience on another instrument is helpful, but not essential.
